strange days
Some things just aren’t what I expect them to be ::like hot tea. meh::
Often, my expectations exceed the reality of a given situation. I’m fairly certain this is the business model of every all-you-can-eat buffet. Surrendered to my senses and my appetite, I pay a ridiculous price for a meal ::and all the germs:: because I’ve not ever reconciled that a 14 ounce slab of meat and a loaded baked potato doesn’t leave much room for the endless shrimp and chocolate-fountainy strawberries.
March and April have definitely been the meat and potato buffet of 2020. We’re headed into the shrimp and strawberries already feeling like we’ve had enough. Loosen your belt, folks.
Despite these strange days, I am still working.
I have a piece included in Practical Art’s 12th Anniversary Show. The exhibition is viewable online here. All works are available for purchase. Be sure to check it out.
Reveler, 2020
You will also find my work in the 23rd San Angelo National Ceramic Competition. Originally scheduled to open April 17, 2020, the exhibition is being redirected for an online presence by mid April. Artwork will be available for purchase online. The show will be physically installed at the museum – perhaps open by appointment as the situation dynamics allow – with an extended exhibition closing date pushed to September. Visit the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts here.

I’ve had inquiries about The 4th Occasional Cup & Mug Sale. My thought last year was that this year would be the year. By the time we get the ‘all clear’ ::with caution:: we’ll be ready for an event for sure. However, things are still up in the air. There is a good deal of work yet to do in the background for the sale to happen. Also, I’m anticipating ::like endless shrimp:: the possibility of a seasonal return of COVID-19. We might find ourselves in the second verse of social distancing. For now, I’m holding off on the call-for-art. Just know, when the call does go out, it might be short notice. In the meantime, if you can, make some cups and mugs; leaving a little room for chocolate dipped strawberries.
